The South Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled it is first five-nanometer SoC (system on a chip) chip mobile chipset. The all new “Samsung Exynos 1080 5G Mobile Processor” is the successor to 980 that was announced last year.
According to Samsung, the Exynos 1080’s single-core performance has been boosted by 50% and a 2x jump in multi-core performance. The processor support up to 144Hz refresh rate displays at full-HD resolution which will help to highly smooth and interactive touch response.
The Exynos 1080 mobile processor is Samsung’s first mid-range processor to feature support for 200MP camera sensors (or 32MP/32MP dual), as well as AI image processing capabilities and up to six shooters, 4K/60fps recording
5G is also accounted for over here, thanks to an integrated modem supporting sub-6Ghz and mmWave speeds. Expect theoretical speeds of up to 5.1Gbps and 3.67Gbps out of these respective 5G standards, Samsung notes.
Samsung also confirmed, the first smartphone to use the Exynos 1080 will be from Vivo in 2021. Hence, this integration will give us a better idea about its performance, power efficiency, and connectivity.
